OPUS KLASSIK 2026 AWARD

Berlin, Germany – May 2026

After more than two years of legal proceedings before the Berlin Regional Court, I am pleased to announce that my legal dispute against Mr. Andreas Rochholl was legally concluded on January 13, 2026. As a result, my position as co-director of the film projects The Female Voice of Iran and Life After Life: Female Voice of Afghanistan was finally established by settlement and my involvement in these works is legally confirmed.

For me, the films The Female Voice of Iran and Life After Life: Female Voice of Afghanistan are much more than just documentary film projects. They give a Voice to women from Iran and Afghanistan whose lives are characterized by courage, resilience, and a constant struggle for dignity and fundamental rights. At a time when artistic expression and female self-determination are subject to considerable restrictions, particularly in Iran, each of these testimonies carries a special responsibility. The now legally clarified classification of my creative contribution therefore has not only professional but also deep personal significance for me.

I am grateful for a legal system that has enabled an objective and fair clarification through independent courts and transparent proceedings. This case shows how essential a functioning constitutional framework is for the protection of artistic work, personal integrity, and freedom of expression. Against the backdrop of the experiences of many people in Iran, it becomes clear how valuable a system is in which voices are heard and legal standards are not dependent on political circumstances. Access to justice should not be a privilege of individual states, but a universal right to which all people are entitled.

I would like to thank my legal representatives in Berlin for their continuous and professional support throughout the proceedings.

Finally, I would like to express my special thanks to my family, my friends, and everyone who has accompanied and supported me with trust, solidarity, and support during this trying time.
